NYIT BRIIC BUILDING
2025
CLIENT / NEW YORK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
LOCATION / LONG ISLAND
Biomedical Research, Innovation, and Imaging Center, or BRIIC, is a state of the art 20,000 SF lab facility at New York Institute of Technology’s Long Island campus. BRIIC expands the university’s research footprint by providing labs, imaging, patient consult, conference rooms, offices and break out space. Originally built in 1970’s, the building was fully gutted and upgraded to meet the fields latest technology needs. The design maximizes the open footprint creating “tentacle” connections between perimeter light filled spaces, infilled with focused research space. Opened in Spring of 2025, BRIIC attracts the regions latest talent to advance neurodegenerative and cardiac care.
State of the Art Laboratory
This laboratory space fuses advanced functionality with refined aesthetics, creating an environment tailored for high-level research. Our design ensures that every element—from ergonomically optimized workstations to state-of-the-art equipment placement—supports complex scientific activities without compromise. Clean lines, natural light paired with an updated lighting scheme, and carefully selected materials foster an atmosphere that promotes focus and innovation, demonstrating that practical utility and sophisticated design can coexist within a cutting-edge research facility environment.
Original Inspiration
Part of the design consideration for this project was figuring out how to maintain the 1970’s charm of the original structure while modernizing all interiors. We opted for durable wood paneling and patterned wall covering in reverence of that goal.
